PICTURE GALLERY: Champagne reception for TheBusinessDesk.com’s first birthday

MORE than a hundred of the region’s business leaders joined TheBusinessDesk.com to help celebrate its first anniversary.

Editor Marc Reeves welcomed readers, advertisers and colleagues to a champagne reception at luxury store Harvey Nichols, in Birmingham’s Mailbox, last night to mark the first 12 months of publishing in the West Midlands.

The site’s daily diet of up-to-the-minute business news and intelligence has become an integral part of the business landscape in the West Midlands, and now has more than 12,000 registered users.

Since its launch on February 1, the site has added new channels dedicated to coverage of the manufacturing and media sectors, as well as a comprehensive and constantly updated shares and markets service.

And this week, it was revealed that the site has been shortlisted in the Midlands Media Awards to be held next month.

Editor Marc Reeves and deputy editor Duncan Tift have been shortlisted in the business journalist category while Mr Reeves and business correspondent Tamlyn Jones are nominated for the online journalist award.

Mr Reeves said: “It’s certainly been a hectic year for business in the region, giving us plenty to get our teeth into.

“We’ve already covered two budgets, a general election and the Comprehensive Spending Review, as well as all the minutiae of what makes businesses tick right across the region.”
