Women’s craft project wins monthly charity award

A project that brings together women living in Birmingham who hail from around the world has been awarded a £2,000 prize by LoveBrum.
Shelanu, which means belonging to us, is a project ran by Craftspace. It meets each week in Birmingham city centre to do activities including jewelry making, and learn more about Birmingham’s culture and heritage.
It will use the money to fund more workshops and to pay for studio hire.
Each month the members of Birmingham charity LoveBrum vote for a good cause from a shortlist of three organisations working in similar areas.
April’s theme was arts and culture, with the runners-up being Big Top Musical Adventures CIC and Indigo Arts.
