Coventry-based Kite Packaging is investing £1.5m to nearly double the size of its national distibution centre.

Kite’s managing partner Gavin Ashe said it is a “significant expansion” of the company’s Tile Hill headquarters, where it has been for the last 10 years.

The investment, which will initially create a dozen jobs, follows expansions at Kite’s branches in Letchworth and Swindon.

Ashe said: “One of the key drivers is creating extra space for our growth and this will certainly lead to more jobs. We are currently growing our team by more than 12 and are looking to double this during the next two years.”

The company is owned by its employees and has grown to a £50m-turnover business since it was founded in 2001.

“Kite Packaging is an employee-owned business and as such we take a long-term view on investing and trying to build a great working environment for all of our owners,” he added.

The six-month project is being done by Wigley Building and Development, which is the company that resulted from the merger of The Wigley Group and contractor Ciexbe.

James Davies, director of The Wigley Group, added: “We are delighted to be supporting this significant investment to expand its operations which will be a boost to the local economy and create further employment opportunities.”
