Specialist travel agency scales new heights with funding deal

Angus Drummond, founder of Limitless Travel

A Birmingham travel agency specialising in tours for people with disabilities has secured funding to help with its ongoing development.

Limitless Travel is one of three organisations to share in funding of £450,000 from the Nominent Trust and its social tech growth programme.

An online operation, Limitless offers holidays, tours, accommodation and travel for people with special requirements. It also offers tips for travellers regarding accessibility at specific attractions, specialist equipment hire and care support.

The firm’s aim is to make travel as hassle-free as possible for people with disabilities.

The enterprise was founded by Angus Drummond, who was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in his early twenties. As his mobility began to decline, he quit his job in investment banking and set out to explore the world.

Upon his travels, he discovered there was almost no information available for disabled travellers and experienced first-hand the problems that people with disabilities have when visiting a new place.

On his return, he established the company to try and make others’ experiences more positive.

He said: “The funding from the Nominent Trust will enable the business to develop new technologies to better support our customer needs. As a business we are evolving and developing new tours and package offerings. The funding is going to have a really positive impact on the business.”

To help the business develop the business, Mr Drummond joined accelerator programme, Entrepreneurial Spark Powered By NatWest. The programme, based at NatWest’s offices in St Phillip’s Place, Birmingham, offers advice and mentoring to fledgling businesses.

Lee Currier, Entrepreneur Development Manager at NatWest, said: “The funding from the Nominent Trust is a huge boost for Angus and Limitless Travel. Angus has created a much-needed sustainable business that has potential to positively impact people with disabilities, and we wish the business every success for the future.”
