Book now for sporting lunch with European Cup winners

Two of Aston Villa’s legends from the 1982 European Cup winning team will relive past glories at TheBusinessDesk.com’s sporting lunch on Friday, October 6.

Gordon “Sid” Cowans, one of the club’s all-time greats, and title-winning teammate Tony Morley, whose cross created Peter Withe’s match-winning goal against Bayern Munich in the final, will join an audience of business people for an informal afternoon of reminiscining and relationship-building.

England international Cowans played more than 400 times for Villa in a 22-year playing career that also included three seasons in Italy with Bari. Afterwards he moved into coaching, spending nearly two decades behind the scenes at Villa Park.

Morley, who scored the goal of the season at Everton in the memorable 1980/1981 campaign as Villa won the league title, earned six England caps during his career that also saw him play twice for West Bromwich Albion and have a loan spell at Birmingham City.

The duo will share anecdotes from their career at the very top of European football, as well as reflections on different managerial styles and dealing with pressure. Both are experienced coaches and will also look at the skills required to get the best out of young talent.

The event at Siamais, Brindleyplace, is £35 + VAT and includes a two-course lunch and welcome drink.
