Prologis completes 20-year lease deal on 200,000 sq ft distribution centre

How the new Anixter centre will look

Prologis has concluded a new 20-year lease deal for a 213,482 sq ft distribution centre at its site near Lichfield.

Collaborating with joint venture partner, Wittington Investments (Developments), it has agreed a deal with specialist electronics distributor Anixter for a unit at Prologis Park Fradley.

Anixter, which supports the security, electrical and electronic solutions and utility power solutions sector, has agreed the deal as part of the expansion of its UK network.

The new centre, which is currently under construction, will be the group’s largest facility in the region. It will feature a new services area and will use innovative smart technology for lighting as well as pick-to-voice technology.

George Brookes, Real Estate Director, Anixter UK, said: “The new distribution centre at Prologis Park Fradley will ensure we have the logistics infrastructure to support the growth of our UK business.

“The new operation will bring jobs to the area and we look forward to becoming part of the local business community.”

Prologis started construction speculatively on the new distribution centre last summer and it is scheduled for completion early this year.

Designed to achieve a minimum BREEAM ‘Very Good’ accreditation and the best possible EPC rating for its size, the building will include a rooftop solar installation that will generate 10% of the building’s regulated energy.

Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK, said: “Prologis has a strong relationship with Anixter at a global level, so we are delighted to be working with the company in the UK.

“We aim to offer our customers the best opportunities in the market and because of the shortage of employment land in the region, Prologis Park Fradley is one of the few sites in the West Midlands that can currently accommodate distribution facilities of this size.”

Prologis Park Fradley benefits from its location in an established industrial area, next to the A38 and close to the M42, M6, M6 Toll and M1 motorways.

Prologis owns and manages approximately 24 million sq ft of logistics and industrial space in the UK.
