‘Competitive bidding’ ups auction revenues to £13m

Birmingham property managers SDL Auctions Bigwood raised £13m in its latest auction of 117 lots.
A part let commercial shop investment and duplex apartment in Darlaston achieved double its guide price, as did a freehold semi-detached property with adjoining public toilets and land in Pelsall.
Ian Tudor, head of commercial auctions at SDL Auctions Bigwood, said: “The latest auction at Aston Villa FC saw competitive bidding, excellent prices and a very good success rate, which is proof of the continuing growth in demand for commercial property at auctions in Birmingham.”
Residential property also performed strongly. Included in the auction was a four-bed house that sold for £159,000, and a three-bed that sold for £171,000 in Coventry, as well as an eight-bed in Handsworth sold for £310,000.
Gurpreet Bassi, head of residential auctions at SDL Auctions Bigwood, added: “We saw competitive bidding in our auction room this month, excellent prices and a very good success rate, which is proof of the continuing growth in demand for property auctions in Birmingham.”
