£30m investment after HS2 forces relocation

Digging in: IM Group's Andrew Edmiston and West Midlands Mayor Andy Street prepare to break ground at IM Group's headquarters

IM Group is to invest £30m in a new headquarters as it relocates 10 miles down the M42 to Solihull.

It officially committed to Fore Business Park at a ground-breaking ceremony with West Midlands Mayor Andy Street.

“The IM Group is one of the region’s success stories and it’s great to see the company moving forward with confidence, investing in the future of the business, creating new jobs and opportunities and contributing towards the future prosperity of the West Midlands,” said Street.

The campus received planning permission last October, which will also see 100,000 sq ft of office space developed next to IM’s headquarters.

Andrew Edmiston, IM Group’s managing director said: “Over the last few years IM Group has been developing rapidly, although we did not expect to be moving from our previous location so soon, we are excited to be moving into Solihull.

“The effort we are putting into this project reflects the confidence we feel in our future.”

IM Group includes IM Properties, which is behind 55 Colmore Row and Blythe Valley Park, Spitfire Bespoke Homes, and automotive businesses International Motors, Isuzu UK and Subaru UK.

250 jobs will relocate from the group’s current Coleshill base, which has been acquired by HS2 to make way for the London-to-Birmingham High Speed line.

Tim Wooldridge, IM Properties managing director added: “Fore Business Park is a good fit for the business as a major investor in the Midlands region. Looking forward we have a £1.5bn development pipeline of space to deliver and with major assets such as Blythe Valley Park delivering significant economic growth on the M42 corridor, it makes sense to be located close by.”
