A5 remains closed in both directions after HGV fire

A major Staffordshire road is expected to remain closed into the afternoon following an HGV fire.

The A5 is closed in both directions between the B4154 (Turf Island) and the A460 (near Churchbridge) following the blaze which happened this morning.

The HGV is severely burnt out and the recovery operation will be protracted, said Highways England.

Road users are being diverted locally and are also advised to allow extra time for their journey.
