Worcester restaurant to create 80 jobs

Hickory’s Smokehouse is spending £1m on fitting out its new premises in Worcester in a move that is expected to bring 80 jobs to the city.
The fast growing restaurant chain will soon start work on the conversion of the Pavilion in the Park pub in the city centre into a restaurant delivering its southern barbeque style food, and is expected to open later this summer.
Hickory’s Smokehouse head of property, Jim Bishop said: “Worcester has been on our wish list for sometime, as it is a beautiful city and the location fist in superbly with our existing estate. We look forward to becoming part of the local community and brigning our authentic BBQ flavours to the people of Worcester and the surrounding areas. We are continuing to grow and are seeking further venues ideally within two and a half hours of our Chester HQ.”
Hickory’s Smokehouse has other West Midlands locations at Castle Bromwich, Burton Green and Coventry.
A 20-year lease was agreed with Mike Gibson, who was advised by Martin Cook of KWB. Cook said: “This is an excellent location for Hickory’s Smokehouse, close to the city centre, providing them with all the space they need to deliver their authentic experience.”
The new restaurant will feature a cinema room, a children’s play area, table tennis, a firepit and a verandah, as well as 150 covers.
