City sightseeing business takes tour to new premises

A company that takes millions of sightseers on open-top bus tours in cities around the world has picked Redditch for its new home.

The move puts City Sightseeing Worldwide in position for fresh growth after expanding over the last two decades to run bus tours in over 100 destinations worldwide, across more than 30 countries on five continents.

Moving from its former home in Henley-on-Arden, the company has taken 1,800 sq ft of space at Suite 8 in the Grosvenor House office block in the centre of Redditch, in a deal handled by Ian Parker of commercial property agency John Truslove.

City Sightseeing’s Andy Lawrence said: “We had outgrown our previous home and needed bigger offices, but Redditch also has a demographic that fits the bill for us in terms of future recruitment of high quality staff. There is clearly a lot of ambition for new development in the area, which was also attractive to us.

“As well as space for our 25 staff, the offices offer the ability to continue growing without having to move again.

“The nature of our business involves a lot of international travel – as well as the cities where we operate we have another main office in Seville – so easy access to Birmingham Airport also made Redditch attractive.

“As an international operation we employ more than 3,400 people worldwide and Grosvenor House is a strategic location for our business. As we continue to expand globally, that is going to mean more growth for us here in Redditch.”

City Sightseeing Worldwide is the world’s leading operator of open-top, double decker buses that provide hop-on hop-off tours. It also offers its services on boat and trains in some cities. As well as panoramic views of some of the world’s most iconic sights, the tours also provide a multi-lingual commentary so people can learn about their destination’s history and culture.

Lawrence added: “We handled more than 14 million customers in 2018 and with our current growth plans we expect that figure to continue to rise.”
