The data centre driving the region’s tech capabilities

Following a £38m, Athena Data Centres is aiming to provide one of the best connected data centre operations in the UK, with Birmingham as its central hub of operations.
Athena Datacentres, part of the Athena Vaults Group, has partnered with Wavenet, an a network carrier and provider of unified communications, to deliver Layer 2 and Layer 3 services, including IP Transit, to all Athena Datacentre and cloud customers at Athena’s newly launched, state-of-the-art data centre in Central Birmingham.
As a direct result of this partnership, Athena Datacentres is directly connected to Wavenet’s diverse fibre backbone that runs from Manchester to London Docklands into multiple data centres over a route resilient fibre path.
Athena Vaults Group CEO Andy Acton said: “We are delighted that Wavenet have chosen to deploy a PoP in our Birmingham Data Centre, in which we have recently invested several million pounds to create one of the region’s best Colocation facilities. As a leading provider of Voice & Data solutions, Wavenet will add significant value to our current Colocation and Cloud service offerings by enabling faster connectivity to clients connected to Wavenet’s extensive network.”
