£11m transformation of former Carillion HQ reaches halfway point

The transformation of the former headquarters of construction giant Carillion into an £11 million high quality co-living development has hit a milestone by reaching the halfway point, with more than 100 studios now completed.

Six floors with a total of 108 studios have now been unveiled at the 12-storey building where The Studios24 is bringing the co-living concept to Wolverhampton for the first time.

The Studios24, at Birch Street, will eventually have 201 en-suite rooms arranged as apartments, with shared facilities including kitchens, working and relaxation areas, a café and bar, gym, laundry and high speed internet.

Around 40 jobs have been created by the development, which is breathing new life into the dilapidated office building and helping to transform the neglected Westside area of the city.

The Studios24 director Barry Glantz says almost all of the completed students now occupied.

“It’s been a journey to reach this point as no-one else has developed co-living accommodation in the Midlands before, so it’s really great to see the place buzzing with activity and residents enjoying their studios and the rest of the facilities.

“It’s been amazing to watch our dream of bringing co-living to Wolverhampton become an exciting reality. Now, we are at the halfway stage after completing phase two and we are moving on to phase three.

“This will enable us to offer more rooms to people looking for great value high quality accommodation. It’s fantastic to see local people and businesses really embrace the co-living concept – it offers a great lifestyle at a very affordable price.”
