Joint venture to deliver 1,000 homes

A housebuilder has teamed up with a major affordable housing provider to build 1,000 homes across the Midlands.

Countryside and Midland Heart Housing Association have signed a partnership agreement that will deliver 1,000 homes in the region over the next three years.

A third (33%) of these homes are already at an advanced stage.

The agreement boosts Countryside’s strategic relationship with Midland Heart and supports its growth plans to deliver a mix of affordable private for-sale and market rent homes in mixed-tenure communities.

Midland Heart is also on track to deliver 3,000 homes by 2024, having beaten its previous year’s target to deliver 450 new affordable homes across the region.

Ian Kelley, chief executive, partnerships North, Countryside, said: “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with Midland Heart to deliver more affordable homes across the West, East and South Midlands.

“This new agreement further supports both our and Midland Heart’s growth plans in the region.”

Glenn Harris, chief executive at Midland Heart, added: “We’re delighted to be extending our highly successful relationship with Countryside. This major new agreement targets the delivery of 1,000 high-quality family homes across a number of areas over the next three years. This will put us in a strong position to deliver on our ambition to build 3,000 new homes by 2024.”

The partnership is supported by Homes England.

Caroline Cormack, head of home ownership and supply in the Midlands for Homes England said: “Homes England is committed to working with ambitious partners to accelerate the delivery of new homes where they’re needed most, so it’s great to see this partnership working to provide 1,000 affordable homes in the Midlands.”
