High street food and coffee company Pret A Manger has opened at the University of Warwick – its first outlet in Coventry.

The new store serving freshly-prepared food-to-go and organic coffee is located in The Piazza in the centre of campus, close to Warwick Arts Centre.

Pret A Manger is the latest high street brand to be opening up across campus as part of a new retail focus by the university to provide a diverse range of food and drink outlets.

Tony Howard, director of food and retail strategy at the University of Warwick, said: “The opening of Pret A Manger is the latest exciting development in our new retail strategy based on customer research which aims to offer a broader choice for students and staff, and encourage more people from the local community onto campus to eat, drink and shop.

“Pret A Manger is a well-known and hugely popular international brand, and its commitment to sustainability also makes it a great fit for the University, reflecting our own aim of making a positive difference to the environment.

“The fact that this is the first Pret A Manger in Coventry means that the University is bringing something new and fresh to the city as a whole.”

Abinet Amde, regional operations director at Pret A Manger, said: “We’re looking forward to bringing Pret A Manger’s freshly prepared food and organic coffee to the University of Warwick – our first shop in Coventry.

“Our current Autumn Menu has lots of delicious, warming items, including a range of focaccias and new soup recipes, which are perfect for the cooler weather, and our Team Members, led by General Manager Ivo Silva, are excited to deliver it to new customers in the area.”
