Cinema plans get green light

Plans to create a multiple screen cinema at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre in Wolverhampton have moved a step closer after being given the green light by city planners.

Commercial property and investment company LCP, which owns and manages the shopping centre, says it is now driving ahead with discussions with potential cinema operators to occupy the new leisure hub.

The plans will see the layout of units 74-78 transform into a multiple screen auditorium, providing seating for 150 visitors with an additional 1850 sq ft developed for restaurant/food/leisure.

LCP will also revamp the external frontage to Cleveland Street.

Andrew Barrett, retail director at Kingswinford-based LCP, said: “We’re pleased to have received positive support from within the community to further enhance the diverse offering within Wulfrun Shopping Centre and to bring a highly anticipated leisure hub to the heart of the city centre, which welcomes some nine million visitors each year

“The hard work is just beginning and we are looking forward to forging ahead with our plans, to the benefit of the shopping centre and to the people of Wolverhampton, who I’m sure will welcome the convenience of a city centre cinema.”
