Portfolio deal provides homes for the homeless

Developer Urban Village Capital has agreed a deal to boost accommodation available in Birmingham for people at risk of homelessness and vulnerable adults.

A portfolio of 120 units across the city will be managed by Birmingham-based Spring Housing Association, a housing charity which provides support for people at risk of becoming homeless.

Spring HA has agreed to lease the properties from Urban Village Capital for an initial three years.

Birmingham-based Urban Village Capital is an investment and development business with a portfolio of developments across the UK, led by chief executive Nick Sellman, chief operating officer Kevin Sharkey and construction director Jamie Sellman.

Sellman said: “I am so pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement with Spring Housing Association. Homelessness is a major issue not just in Birmingham but right across the UK and we are keen to be part of the solution.

“This portfolio of 120 units is ideal for Spring’s requirements and will help hundreds of people avoid falling into the homeless trap, which we know is so difficult to escape once you’re in it.”

Established in 2014, Spring Housing Association aims to provide high quality housing options and offer individuals a pathway into employment, training and advice.

Dominic Bradley, group chief executive at Spring HA, said: “We are really pleased with our partnership with Urban Village. This is part of a wider strategy of investment into the Stockland Green area, which has seen many people in very unsuitable housing conditions, which has caused much disruption to the local community. This gives us a further platform to private property and use it for our social purpose.”
