Developer lodges appeal against major mixed-use scheme decision

The developer of a major mixed-use scheme which was refused planning permission in February had lodged an appeal.

The scheme, by Eutopia Homes, was turned down by planning chief at Birmingham City Council because of fears the project would jeopardise the future delivery of the Bordesley Chords – new viaducts which would carry increased rail services.

Eutopia Homes lodged the appeal on 10 May.

The plans would see the redevelopment of the site at 193 Camp Hill, Highgate to offer 480 homes, a hotel and flexible/commercial floorspace of 1,480 sq m.

The scheme would be arranged in seven blocks ranging from three to 26 storeys.

Plans also include an energy centre to provide heat and power for the development.
