Work resumes on £12m residential development

Solihull-based Living Space Housing has resumed construction work at its flagship Malvern Oaks development in Cradley, on the outskirts of Malvern, which is being developed in conjunction with leading affordable housing provider Stonewater.

All work on site was paused at the end of March due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Work has now restarted and roof coverings are being put in place on the first tranche of homes at the £12m mixed-tenure housing scheme.

The Malvern Oaks scheme comprises 51 two, three and four-bedroom family homes, together with a new playground. Nineteen of the homes will be for sale on the open market later this year.

Steve Davies, managing director of Living Space Housing, said: “Due to the rural location of this development and supply chain constraints, it was the final one in our portfolio where construction has now resumed, amid the Covid-19 lockdown.

“I am delighted that we are now back on site at all of our housing schemes, working in accordance with our robust Safe Operating Procedure. We have been hard at work acquiring more land and are now preparing new site starts, as it is apparent the need for affordable housing has never been greater.”

Living Space’s other two live development sites comprise 48 homes located at the former Victoria Carpets Sports Ground in Kidderminster, which is also being delivered for Stonewater, and 26 homes located off Britannia Way in central Telford, Shropshire.
