Contracts exchanged on affordable housing scheme

Solihull-based Living Space Housing has exchanged contracts with The Wrekin Housing Group for the delivery of 38 affordable homes in Telford.

The contract is worth over £6m and all 38 of the properties located off Park Road in the Malinslee ward will be for affordable rent.

The architect for the scheme is Birmingham-based residential design specialist BM3. Couch Consulting is the engineer for the project and Waldeck Consulting is the employers agent.

Steve Davies, managing director of Living Space Housing, said: “We are thrilled to have exchanged contracts with Wrekin Housing Group and hope this will be the first of many schemes that we can partner on together, in order to help meet local housing needs. While so much new housing and investment has been stalled due to the impact of Covid-19, we are fully committed to starting construction as soon as possible, working in accordance with our robust Safe Operating Procedure.

“Park Road is our third development in Telford in quick succession and we are looking to bring forward more sites in the town to help address the Local Authority’s affordable housing needs. We are also actively seeking other immediate and longer-term development opportunities and have the funding in place to progress such deals.”

Matt Beckley, development manager for The Wrekin Housing Group, said: “There is a real need for affordable, quality new homes. This scheme will be very well received because of its convenient location, great transport links and range of local amenities. We are very pleased to be working with Living Space, and look forward to delivering these new homes together.”
