Warwick District Council has snapped up land at a former riding school to redevelop into housing.

The authority has bought 1.78 acres of land at the former Waverley Riding School in Cubbington to bring forward the construction of 17 homes, including seven affordable properties.

The move to acquire the site forms part of a wider strategy by Warwick District Council to significantly boost the direct provision of affordable homes in conjunction with a range of construction partners across the district.

Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for housing, Cllr Jan Matecki, said: “We’re very pleased to have been able to secure this land for much needed housing within our district during challenging times.

“This is a great location, and with a high proportion of affordable homes this could give an opportunity for young people and those with families to relocate to or stay in the area.”
