Plans revealed for new high-end cocktail bar in Jewellery Quarter

A high end cocktail bar is being planned for a Grade II listed building in Birmingham city centre – to be run by a mystery operator.
Plans have been submitted to Birmingham City Council to redevelop the ground floor of the Iron Lofts building at 1A Newhall Square in the Jewellery Quarter by a company called Newhall Square Property Unit Trust.

The Newhall Square development has recently been completed and includes 220 apartments, plus three commercial units, car parking and a new public square.
The 1,163 sq ft bar will include a lobby, bar and seating area for 20 covers. There will also be an outdoor seating area overlooking Newhall Square.

A planning statement reads: “The proposed internal fit-out items will be high quality joinery elements that are visually modern yet understated to emphasise the unique setting for the cocktail bar within the Iron Loft building.”
The bar is being designed by Gavin Orton Architects.
