Plans submitted for 12-storey Southside scheme

How the scheme will look

Plans have been revealed for a new 12-storey residential scheme in Digbeth that would include 133 flats.

London Development Group (LDG) has submitted the plans to Birmingham City Council for the site, which would also include commercial space on the ground floor, a courtyard, two private roortop terraces and “indoor amenity spaces”.

The site is currently owned by Forensic Science Service, which has agreed to sell the land and buildings to LDG.

The scheme is being designed by Corstorphine + Wright.

A planning statement reads: “The proposed development represents a significant capital investment which will create employment, drive increased spending in the local economy, and support the city council’s aspirations for Southside and Highgate.

“The scheme will deliver 133 much needed homes, thereby contribution towards the city’s substantial overall housing requirement.”
