Major residential scheme planned for long-derelict Birmingham site

Plans to build 438 homes on land at Belgrave Middleway on the site of the former Joseph Chamberlain College and Birmingham Sports Centre in Balsall Heath in Birmingham have been revealed.

The proposals, by GDL (Birmingham Middleway) outline three neighbourhood areas, which would include a mixture of townhouses and apartments around a linear park on a site that has been vacant for some two decades.

The residential element of the scheme would be made up of 219 one-bedroom and 107 one-bedroom flats alongside 38 two-bedroom, 62 three-bedroom and 12 four-bedroom houses.

Some 700 cycle spaces would also be included and the scheme would be accessed from both Haden Way and Sherbourne Road.

GDL (Birmingham Middleway), is a joint venture between Galliard Homes and Apsley House Capital.
