Housing Secretary gives nod to £130m mixed-use scheme

A £130m mixed-use scheme has been given the go-ahead following a decision by the Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick to back plans for the scheme, which sits on the site where Peaky Blinders is filmed.

Eutopia Homes lodged an appeal last May against the decision to refuse planning permission to the scheme at Camp Hill which includes 480 homes, a hotel and flexible/commercial floorspace of 1,480 sq m.

Planning chiefs at Birmingham City Council had objected to the scheme over fears the project would jeopardise the future delivery of the Bordesley Chords – new viaducts which would carry increased rail services.

The scheme will be arranged in seven blocks ranging from three to 26 storeys.

Plans also include an energy centre to provide heat and power for the development.
