New owner for Edgbaston dental practice

A dental practice in Edgbaston has changed hands after being sold for an undisclosed sum.

Portland Dental Practice is a two-surgery, mixed income dental practice that has been treating both NHS and private patients for more than three decades.

The business was previously owned by Dr Martin Segelov, who decided to sell as part of his retirement planning, and has now been purchased by first-time buyer Dr Kian Dhinsa.

Dr Segelov said: “After an enjoyable and professionally rewarding career of 30 plus years, I have decided to sell Portland Dental Practice to Dr Kian Dhinsa. All of the staff are looking forward to working with Kian and I would like to wish them well for the future.”

New owner Dr Dhinsa, added: “Portland Dental Practice is an attractive mixed practice in the heart of Birmingham city centre located in a charming building, and I am looking forward to building on decades of hard work by the outgoing owner and team by growing the practice further. There also are immediate plans to modernise the practice with state-of-the-art equipment and materials as well as doing a full refit.”

Steve O’Connor, business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “I’m delighted that the sale of Portland Dental Practice has now completed. The sale was just about ready to conclude in April of last year, and then the pandemic struck, causing delays. I’m pleased Martin can now look forward to his well-earned retirement, and wish Kian all the best moving forwards, who I know has some exciting plans for the practice.”
