Wolverhampton Mayor, Councillor Greg Brackenridge, has cut the ribbon to unveil newly-upgraded and modernised communal facilities at Heantun Point student accommodation in Wolverhampton.

As part of the unveiling of the new social space, the Mayor spoke with members of the Heantun Point team to hear how communal spaces should be planned to support a student community and the wellbeing of residents.

Refurbished by Host Student Housing, the 657-bedroom scheme includes study space and a laundry room with washing and drying facilities, with a cinema room, games area and communal lounge.

Councillor Greg Brackenridge, Mayor of Wolverhampton, said: “Students are at the heart of our city’s community and it’s vital they are provided the best possible accommodation during their time here. That is why it is fantastic to see such modern facilities come to Wolverhampton, which will help to make our city an even more attractive destination for students considering where to study in 2021.”

Heantun Point is part of a student housing portfolio acquired by Aventicum Real Estate from Unite Group earlier this year, with Host appointed as property and development manager responsible for the modernisation of facilities such as those at Heantun Point. Host is a specialist student accommodation business, operating approximately 13,500 student beds over 42 sites in the UK and Europe.

John Ripley, operations director at Host Student Housing, said: “We are delighted to have the Mayor open our refurbished communal areas at Heantun Point, which will create a comfortable, safe and stylish space for students to relax and socialise in between their studies. Heantun Point has brilliant facilities that enable Wolverhampton’s students to have the best possible experience for the duration of their studies.”
