Childcare provider buys Birmingham nursery

Karen’s Kindergarden in Birmingham has been sold to expanding childcare provider Tommies Childcare.

Established in 2006 by Karen Clarke, Karen’s Kindergarden has capacity for up to 60 children aged between zero and eight-years-old.

The business is located in Erdington.

Tommies Childcare plans to rebrand the business as Springthorpe Day Nursery.

Matt Fooks, director at Tommies Childcare, said: “We are delighted and thrilled to be welcoming this setting into the Tommies Childcare family of nurseries. This is a landmark moment for our organisation as we are expanding into Birmingham, an area which we have been hoping to operate in for some time now.

“The nursery is in an excellent location, and we are already busy with plans to invest in new resources and equipment for the children in our care as well as an inspiring refurbishment of the setting. We believe that the nursery has the potential to be a leading nursery in the area, and we are excited to start that journey.”

Jassi Sunner, associate director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “With the sale of this setting, we exceeded expectations on the sale price, and exceeded expectations with the time it took to sell the nursery, and I am delighted to have achieved this result for our client who has put years of dedication into the business. They were determined to sell to the right buyer, and we believe a regional group expanding from Coventry into Birmingham is the perfect fit.”

Karen’s Kindergarden was sold for an undisclosed price.
