Norton creates 100 jobs at new Solihull headquarters

Norton Motorcycles has opened its new global headquarters in Solihull, creating 100 jobs.

The manufacturing facility in Solar Park contains the company’s global design and R&D hub, customer showroom and service workshops.

The new production line aims to produce more than 8,000 motorcycles per year, which have undergone a wide-ranging review to ensure the highest quality of standards are met. More than 100 highly skilled jobs have been created with more to come.

Norton says it hopes to optimise sustainability and reduce waste to landfill sites thanks to the detailed review of operations. Numerous sustainable and rapid build techniques have been used on the project, the components of which are almost 50% reconfigurable as a proportion of total construction cost.

Robert Hentschel, CEO said: “This investment demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the motorcycles we build. We will not compromise on quality, and we continue to work alongside every supplier to ensure that our high standards are always met. With this new HQ opening, Norton is now fit for the future – creating an innovative and sustainable business model which will see us producing world-class motorcycles that are true to the unrivalled legacy of Norton.”

Norton’s Castle Donington base was closed in January 2021. TVS Motor Company bought Norton out of administration in April 2020.

Sudarshan Venu, joint managing director, TVS Motor Company said: “We are setting out to create a bold future for the company, our employees, our customers and our partners that lives up to the highest expectations, enabling Norton to once again become the real global force its legacy deserves.”

Councillor Ian Courts, leader of Solihull Council said: “It’s a huge mark of confidence in the region that Norton have chosen to establish their new global headquarters, complete with state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, here in Solihull.

“We have unmatched connectivity, access to a highly skilled and dynamic labour market and a firmly established reputation for world leading advanced manufacturing and engineering.”
