Director of business lender announced as Chamber president

A director at a West Midlands-based business lender has been announced as the new president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce.

Sarah Moorhouse, who is operations and marketing director at Wolverhampton headquartered BCRS Business Loans, became president on the same day the 160-year-old Chamber announced for the first time in its history a 50/50 split of male and female board members.

Moorhouse has been a member of the leadership team at BCRS Business Loans for over ten years.

She also becomes one of the youngest business leaders to take on the role.

Moorhouse said: “I am thoroughly delighted and relish the opportunity to become president at an ambitious organisation that continues to do so much to support the growth and survival of Black Country businesses, along with the wider scope of helping to raise the profile of all the fantastic projects that the Chamber delivers on both a regional and national level.

“I’m also delighted to find I’m joined by fellow successful businesswomen around the table, and I’ll be focussing a lot of my support on women in business and women in leadership throughout my two-year role, and also as Chair of the Chamber’s Women in Leadership initiative.

“I have always been passionate about supporting the growth and prosperity of local small businesses and it is something that I live and breathe in my role at BCRS Business Loans.

“I will help support our fantastic leadership team in their delivery of the strategic objectives that support our members.”

Corin Crane, Black Country Chamber, CEO said: “I’m delighted to welcome Sarah into the President’s role, as a leader in her own field, Sarah is highly talented and respected in the Black Country business community.

“No-one should underestimate the important part that our non-executive directors play in helping to shape the Chamber and the support it provides. We have a wealth of skills and experience around our board table from people who give their time freely for the good of the Black Country business community.

“They work tirelessly to support the Chamber team on behalf of our members. This year has been a tough one for many firms and sectors and the Chamber has worked to ensure that the region is not left behind.”
