Fleet management service has renewed its partnership with National Grid.

Rivus based in Solihull, has been providing fleet management services to National Grid since 2006 and will continue its partnership until 2030.

With a UK fleet of more than 2,000 vehicles, comprising of LCVs, HGVs, trailers and plant, National Grid’s fleet is critical to its business operations.

The renewed contract will see the National Grid team accessing a full suite of fleet management services through Rivus as a single provider.

For the first time it will incorporate accident management and vehicle build, as well as Rivus mobile technicians delivering in-house service, repair and maintenance (SMR), rather than using a third party.

David Myers the chief executive officer at Rivus said: “We’re pleased to be expanding our services with the inclusion of accident management and vehicle build. Another advantage of Rivus is that we can leverage our technical experts to reduce cost and waste by tailoring solutions to meet the National Grid’s specific conversion requirements.”

The new contract also means flexible SMR services will be provided by leveraging the Rivus mobile network to minimise VOR while providing greater flexibility and choice of how vehicles are maintained.

Myers said: “Our mobile remote maintenance teams will be working directly on National Grid substations. Members of the Rivus team are undertaking specialist Person Training, which enables our technicians to safely work unsupervised on National Grid sites.

“This offers enhanced health and safety benefits for security, protection and compliance as well as added convenience.”

National Grid has ambitions of becoming 100% net zero by 2030.

Lorna McAtear, fleet manager at National Grid said: “It is important for us to partner with a fleet management provider that can help us achieve National Grid’s ambition to move to an all-electric fleet.

“As Rivus can service and maintain our fleet through its in-house network, of which 70% already has capacity for EV, that’s real added value for us to support achieving our aims.”
