Traffic Alert: Two multiple vehicle crashes close stretch of M5
Two crashes involving several vehicles have closed a stretch of the M5 in Worcestershire.
Six people were injured when an HGV crashed with a people carrier at about 03:00 BST between junctions 8 and 7.
Four lorries then crashed at the same site at about 04:30, closing the northbound carriageway.
The section of road is expected to remain closed throughout the day.
The closure has been extended back to junction 9 at the Ashchurch Interchange due to severe delays on the original diversion route via the A38.
Road users wishing to continue on the M5 northbound are being advised to follow a route via the A46 eastbound, the A44 and on to the A4538 to junction 6 of the M5.
One lane was also closed southbound for a time but has since reopened.
