£5.5m expansion completes at Coventry academy

A £5.5m three-storey expansion has been completed at Ernesford Grange secondary school by Deeley Construction.

The extension project has resulted in 180 new places at Ernesford Grange Community Academy, which is part of the Sidney Stringer Multi Academy Trust.

It features new classrooms, a theatre for community use, a gymnasium, performing arts classrooms and a post-16 study area.

Biodiversity works at the development have also seen the creation of a new habitats for wildlife on the school site and surrounding fields.

Work has been funded by Coventry City Council and is part of an investment into the Sidney Stringer Multi Academy Trust, which also includes the adjoining SEN school, Riverbank Academy.

Deeley Construction previously completed a new teaching block for the Riverbank Academy with three new classrooms created alongside three bespoke outdoor soft play areas, internal soft play areas, two hygiene suites and a purpose-built fitness suite.

Claire Turpin, CEO of Sidney String Multi Academy Trust, said: “The Trust is really appreciative of the investment from Coventry City Council, to the pupils and community of this area, as it gives us more opportunity to continue the significant improvements that we have achieved at Ernesford Grange, since it has joined the Trust.”

Deeley Group says it has added 17% social value during the two phases of the project, which is equal to putting £1.5m into the Coventry economy.

Community work ranged from sponsoring the school football team, donating to St. John the Divine Church in Willenhall and providing work experience opportunities for students across the two phases of the project.
