Shipping containers company secures new HQ
A shipping containers business is recruiting staff as part of an £800,000 investment in its new headquarters in Redditch.
Budget Shopping Containers has bought 5,526 sq ft of offices and stores at Neptune Works, on Beoley Road West.
The company paid £575,000 for the building and is aiming to invest £250,000 on upgrading and improving the site over the next three years, according to managing director Chris Osborne.
As part of the company’s expansion, it is also recruiting more staff for its core base, from which it operates conversion, distribution and storage sites around the country.
Osborne said: “Sales and conversion provide the majority of our work. We carry out bespoke work ranging from garden offices to catering pods, as well as providing secure storage containers for a range of business, organisations and members of the public.”
The move from Wythall now offers Worcestershire a local, established, and reputable source of shipping containers, storage containers, and converted shipping containers locally.
While office activity is now based at Redditch, the physical containers and any conversion work will come from the company’s container yards on the north side of Birmingham or elsewhere across its UK-wide network of yards.
Osborne added: “This site is just on the edge of the centre of town and couldn’t be much easier to reach for staff travelling by car as well as local public transport or bike commuters. It’s location next to the Cricketer’s Arms Pub and opposite Micky’s Chippy – which we hear is the best chippy in town – is a very handy co-incidence.”
The town is also within easy reach of nearly all major ports and intermodal hubs, where the firm’s shipping containers are stored and repaired.
Osborne added: “Redditch has some of the best infrastructure for green communing, with the best cycle patch infrastructure in the region, helping us incentivise local staff to commute without a car.
“A good central location allows for bus commutes, as well as being only a few minutes on a bird scooter from the train station (or about a ten minute walk).”
