Poundland to launch store after signing shopping centre lease

Poundland is set to open a new store after agreeing a lease on a shopping centre unit in a boost for Black Country bargain hunters.

The retailer will anchor Tipton Shopping Centre at the 9,942 sq ft former Co-op store.

Birmingham-based Centrick Commercial secured the deal on behalf of client PBM Debury. Andy Crompton, of Riddell TPS, was joint agent.

George Xydias, Centrick Commercial agency director, said: “The forthcoming arrival of Poundland is really great news for shoppers in Tipton following the departure of the Co-op. Poundland is an excellent anchor tenant for the shopping centre and I’m sure their decision to launch a Tipton store will be welcomed by shoppers and other traders in the area.”

Tipton Shopping Centre comprises 26 retail units, first floor office suites, and a library. It has a central square which hosts markets and other events. Other tenants include The West Brom and Bupa Dental Care.
