More than 70 firefighters were at the scene of a huge fire at an office building and warehouse in Coventry last night (March 5).

Staffordshire and West Midlands Fire Control (SWMFC) received multiple 999 calls reporting a significant fire on the Cross Point business park at 5.43pm.

Crews arrived at Olivier Way five minutes after being mobilised and were met with a severe fire in a two-storey office and warehouse building.

The road was closed for safety and people living or working nearby were being urged to keep doors and windows closed.

At 10:32pm last night, West Midlands Fire Service said: “We are planning to scale down our resources at the scene by midnight, to five fire engines and around 25 firefighters.

“These crews are expected to remain throughout the night, damping down remaining hotspots.

“People nearby no longer need to keep doors and windows closed.

“We are working with local companies, including a supermarket, to facilitate access to their premises and enable them to keep operating.”
