St Joseph Homes has been recommended by Birmingham City Council to be its development partner for the regeneration of the Ladywood Estate.

The £2.2bn scheme, set over 60 hectares, will take more than 20 years to complete and will offer 7,000 homes, new schools, 14 hectares of green space as well as two public parks.

As part of the Masterplan, improvements will also be made to public transport and community facilities.

St Joseph Homes, which is part of The Berkeley Group will sigh a development agreement if the decision is approved by the cabinet on June 27.

Cllr John Cotton, leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “The delivery of Ladywood Estate Regeneration Scheme is the city’s most significant housing regeneration and redevelopment opportunity and key to the sustainable growth and development of the city.

It “will address both social and environmental issues and deliver significant benefits for the local community and wider Birmingham economy.”
