First phase of Birmingham’s former gunmakers site sells out

The first release of a new luxury development which has given one of Birmingham’s most historic industrial sites a new lease of life has sold out.

Gunsmith House within the city’s Gun Quarter on Price Street was once home to one of the most respected gunmakers in the world and is the latest scheme of local developer Elevate Property Group.

Sales for the first phase of the scheme – completion for which is understood to be well on course for the end of this year – have been sold completely off-plan.

With half of the new development now sold, the second phase of the development, which will include the launch of a two-bedroom show apartment, is to be launched on 24 June.

Designed by Digbeth-based K4 Architects, the remaking of Gunsmith House will see 82 one and two-bed apartments built to the side of the original building, which has been transformed into three luxury apartments by Elevate Property Group.

The new build apartments, adjoining to the side of the original Gunsmith House, are being built around a communal landscaped courtyard with many of the apartments having either terraces or balconies and a selected number having the option of purchasing one of a limited number of gated car parking spaces.

Joe Shorney, head of residential development sales in the Midlands at Savills, who are handling the sales at the scheme, says: “The restoration of Gunsmith House is a fine example of thoughtful regeneration of the rich industrial heritage on offer within the UK’s second city and has undeniably resonated with a wide range of buyer. Not only does this scheme offer exciting living accommodation, but also a rare opportunity to own a piece of Birmingham’s rich, industrial history with the best that the city has to offer on your doorstep.

“The strong early interest that was being reflected in registrations when this scheme initially launched in February held firm and has led to all available apartments in the first phase of sales being sold off-plan, with the expectation that demand will increase as the market seasonally strengthens and the building itself takes shape.”

David Hofton, sales and marketing director at Elevate Property Group, adds: “This is our eleventh development in the city centre and arguably our fastest selling, with 50% of the apartments now sold. We have taken great pride in getting our vision for Gunsmith House right, taking our signature industrial style and applying it to every last detail in order to provide a living space that people will be proud of. The early success of the scheme has been incredibly humbling.”
