People: Sydney Mitchell; L&Q Estates; Wright Hassall

Law firm Sydney Mitchell has announced that Mitra Mann has joined the firm as head of contentious probate.

She joins the firm from Wright Hassall and has more than 17 years experience in dealing with litigation matters, including a wide range of contentious probate cases involving Will Disputes, Inheritance Act 1975 claims and disputed trusts and estates.

She has also dealt with property disputes and professional negligence matters.  In addition, she has extensive experience in Court of Protection matters and has assisted clients with a range of applications dealing with deputyship disputes, statutory Wills, financial abuse, restoring estates as well as health and welfare decisions.

Two senior promotions have been announced at one of the UK’s major land promoters and developers as part of its plans for future growth.

Aritz Kaushik is now engineering director at L&Q Estates following the retirement of Stephen Jay, who worked for the Warwick-based business for 19 years.

His colleague Tim Brown has also secured a promotion to the role of associate engineering director.

A Midlands law firm has promoted seven solicitors across a variety of its legal teams as it continues to support the development of talent from within.

Wright Hassall has promoted six new senior associates including experienced family solicitor Laura Stocks (Family) and Danielle Pawson (Contentious Probate), who specialises in disputes relating to wills, trusts and the Court of Protection.

The latest round of promotions has also seen Jenny Rhind and Parminder Takhar become senior associates in the company’s expert Commercial Litigation team.

Elsewhere Laura Steel and Patrick McCallum have been promoted to senior associate in Commercial, while Stacey Lambert has been promoted to associate solicitor (Business Immigration).
