Birmingham high-profile entrepreneur steps away

Popular Brummie man-about-town PJ Ellis has announced his departure from digital marketing agency, Lightbox.

Ellis, the co-founder of LoveBrum, has been active in the Birmingham business community for more than 15 years, after a well-known stint on Big Brother in 2002.

After working as a commercial lawyer for seven years, he created social media marketing agency Blake7 (named after his son) and went on to merge with Lightbox Digital in 2018.

His partnership with Rob Pollard has seen Lightbox scale up, with a recent series named Unbox Events, bringing together the likes of Big Brother alumni and presenter Alison Hammond, to Paul Richardson, the ex-Chairman of Gymshark and now owner of HERA clothing.

Ellis said on LinkedIn: “As I step away from Lightbox I can’t help but reflect on the extraordinary journey I’ve had over the last 5 years.

“Transitioning from the world of law to marketing back in 2013 was a leap into the unknown. But I’ve been so fortunate to be part of some amazing ventures ever since.

“Two of the most defining was founding Blake7 and then scaling, and repurposing, Lightbox. I’ve relished every challenge faced.

“And now it’s time for a new challenge. What that is, exactly, I’m not sure. But that’s what makes this so exciting. I am fortunate to have some time to work out what I’ll do next, but during that time, I’m open to seeing how the universe responds.

“A big nod to Rob Pollard – it was an absolute pleasure to partner with you on this journey. Sharing ideas, solving challenges, navigating a pandemic, and just learning so SO much. I wish you, and the Lightbox team, all the best with what’s to come. I will be supporting you from the sidelines”.
