Countryside hotel triples guest capacity with six-figure funding boost

With a £700,000 boost from Lloyds Bank, Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel in Solihull is tripling its guest capacity and anticipates a 15% growth in profits.

Originally a 22-room hotel, restaurant and venue spread across seven acres of private woodland, Nuthurst Grange decided to expand its accommodation offerings.

Through the funding, the hotel is constructing 46 guest rooms, a bridal preparation space, and log cabins with private hot tubs.

Two rooms and bridal space are already completed, with the remaining work set to conclude by early 2024.

Alongside the expansion, Lloyds Bank has supported Nuthurst Grange Hotel in implementing its Cardnet payment solution, streamlining customer payment and enhancing financial oversights.

Future plans include planning permission for eight more bedrooms and an extension to existing facilities.

Paul Hopwood, owner and managing director of Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel, said: “Since we bought the hotel in 2006, we’ve gradually been developing and expanding. Thanks to funding from Lloyds Bank, next year we’re able to make one of the most significant upgrades we’ve ever made. By constantly reinventing and reinvesting, we have been able to provide customers with an excellent experience and maintain loyalty, helping us overcome some of the wider challenges currently facing the hospitality sector.

“Sustainability is also key to Nuthurst Grange Hotel’s wider growth strategy. We’ve installed three energy-efficient boilers, which will ensure we can heat the new rooms and facilities in a more sustainable way, while our new log cabins are designed to blend in with the forest and allow guests to spend time in nature.”

Paul Warrington, relationship director at Lloyds Bank, said: “Nuthurst Grange Hotel is seeing high levels of demand from guests. It has a busy festive period ahead and is already fully booked for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The funding will enable the business to expand its capacity, make the most of the popularity it’s experiencing and maximise all opportunities to grow.

“For a business such as Nuthurst Grange Hotel, where customers will make several different transactions during their stay using varied payment channels in person, online or over the phone, Cardnet is an excellent solution to help them simplify their payments. We’re pleased to be by their side as they enter the next phase of their growth, supporting them with the funding and tools to prosper.”
