Firefighters tackle Wolverhampton meat factory blaze

Fifty-five firefighters were called to a large fire in the early hours of Sunday morning (January 7) at a Wolverhampton meat processing factory.

Crews arrived at ScotBeef on the Stafford Road shortly after 2am. The fire was reportedly contained within an annex of the single-story unit and did not spread to the main building.

At the height of the fire, 10 appliances and 40 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze and were supported by drone operations and a specialist technical rescue team.

The A449 was closed to allow hydrant supply to crews working at the scene and has since re-opened.

Four fire engines remain at the scene.
