Court Collaboration prepares marathon year

CGI of Brindley Drive

Birmingham’s specialist residential developer, Court Collaboration, is celebrating a number of achievements and milestones in 2023, and looking forward to picking up the pace for a marathon year in 2024.

Last year saw Court Collaboration break ground at One Eastside, secure planning permission for the former Brindley Drive car park redevelopment and move offices to Alpha Tower in Birmingham city centre.

And 2024 is shaping up to be another fantastic year, with developments picking up pace whilst the team trains for a half marathon in February in aid of Birmingham charity, Free@last.

“There were many challenges along the way last year, but the team were fantastic, as were our partners and consultants”, says Alex Neale, Managing Director at Court Collaboration.

“The landscape changes constantly; and local, national and international factors are always at play, but we persevered and ended the year incredibly pleased to have seen developments making progress and to have further consents in place.”

The company’s first major milestone in 2023 was breaking ground at One Eastside in March, where 667 high-quality new homes for rent are being constructed just a stone’s throw away from the new Curzon Street HS2 station in the heart of Birmingham. One Eastside will include 51 storeys and feature top-class co-working space and amenities for residents such as a cinema room, sky lounge and gym when it completes in 2026.

More good news soon followed, when Court Collaboration secured planning consent for the former Brindley Drive car park in the heart of the city centre, a brownfield site the company will regenerate with two BTR residential towers providing a mixture of 581 contemporary new one and two‑bedroom homes just moments from the Colmore Row business district.

One Eastside ground breaking

As the year drew to a close, Court also prepared for initial works at the former Irish Centre in Deritend, with local VIPs visiting to mark the occasion ahead of works in 2024.

The building will be replaced by a landmark tower providing 454 contemporary one and two- bedroom apartments in a key gateway to the city centre, with the BTR scheme boasting a rooftop terrace on the 48th floor, as well as plenty of private residential amenity space including a gym and lounge.

The development will add to the exciting evolution of Digbeth and the city centre in general, with a variety of ambitious schemes coming forward alongside the Birmingham Eastside Metro extension.

These include the major Stone Yard development, one of Birmingham’s largest residential schemes, which Court Collaboration secured planning consent for and sold on in 2023.

Alex added: “We want to thank everybody we’ve worked with along the way last year, and we look forward to continuing those relationships in 2024. It was a brilliant year for us, and how we managed to move to our fabulous new offices in amongst other the other hard work is testament to the team here at Court Collaboration. We hope everybody had a very well-deserved beak and a lovely festive time with their families over Christmas.”

2024 is also shaping up nicely for the business, with major progress expected at One Eastside, as well as a start on site at Brindley Drive, not to mention new schemes coming down the pipeline.

The team have also committed to a half marathon in February to raise vital funds for Free@last, a Birmingham charity that works tirelessly to provide the next generation with the skills they need to improve their quality of life and build a successful future.

Court Collaboration has been supporting the charity for a number of years, including the annual Christmas lunch and gifts for those who would otherwise go without. In 2024, the business and its partners are hoping to raise £20,000 for the charity, with a half marathon in February. Fundraising has already started via https://www.justgiving.com/page/court-collaborationcharityrun and the team are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved.

Alex comments: “Our passion for Birmingham runs much deeper than the developments we deliver, and supporting this fantastic local charity is just one of the things we can do to help people in our city. Free@last do wonderful work and it’s an honour for us to be involved with such a worthwhile cause. I can confirm that training for the half marathon has now begun and is very much needed after the Christmas break!”
