Air compressor supplier snapped up as owner plans to retire

A Birmingham air compressor supplier has been acquired by a specialist in purchasing SME businesses from retiring owners.

Bambi Air Compressors (Bambi Air) has been acquired by Lucena Capital to bolster its portfolio after having acquired precision engineering firm Impress Group last November.

Established in 1977 by its current owner Laurence Clutterbuck, who is looking to retire, Bambi Air produces a wide variety of electric-only, oil-free, and silent air compressors for the dental & medical, OEM & scientific, and industrial sectors.

The buyer, Lucena Capital, founded by Ben Suquet, looks to acquire UK SME businesses from retiring owners to drive sustained success and long-term growth.

David Fletcher, managing director of Jerroms Corporate Finance acted as lead advisor to Bambi Air.

Ben Suquet, managing director of Lucena Capital said: “I am thrilled to be part of the ongoing journey that Bambi Air has been on over the last 47 years. Their legacy is commendable, having established a specialist engineering and manufacturing business that consistently prioritises customer satisfaction through unwavering commitment to quality. Lucena Capital was created precisely for such succession scenarios. I am eager to collaborate with the Bambi Air team and assist in their ambitions to expand the business further.”

Legal support for Bambi Air was provided by mfg Solicitors and Cooke Corporate for Lucena Capital.

Clare Lang, partner, mfg Solicitors said: “It was a pleasure to represent the shareholders of Bambi Air in the successful sale to Lucena Capital. This transaction marks a significant milestone for Laurence, Ben and all parties involved, and we are proud to have played a part in facilitating this deal. Working alongside David and his talented team at Jerroms has been an exceptional experience, and their expertise was instrumental in achieving a smooth and successful transaction. We wish Bambi Air continued success under its new ownership.”
