Sportswear retailer set to triple store size at Merry Hill

Merry Hill has announced the expansion of Footasylum, with the streetwear retailer set to triple its store size.
Footasylum has been operating at Merry Hill for several years and will now expand from 3,000 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft, merging its current unit with the neighbouring space.
Shoppers can expect a new mobile payment system and new screens in store. The larger space will feature a broader selection of men’s and junior apparel and footwear, along with the introduction of Footasylum Women’s, offering top brands like Nike, Adidas, Monterrain, Forena, and Zavetti Canada.
Alistair Winning, asset manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, on behalf of Merry Hill, said: “Footasylum is the latest in a long line of top-quality brands that have invested in Merry Hill, and this upsize from a tenant that has been with us for many years shows just how profitable the centre is.
“They are in the heart of the scheme, with the likes of Nike Unite, Skechers, and Schuh nearby, and their combined success is vindication of our approach to clustering in this category. With Footaslyum’s growth as an industry leader, we have created a footwear hub that better suits the shopping habits of our customers. There’s always a sense of pride when an existing store wants to grow with you and to have Footasylum re-commit to Merry Hill as part of that is great for the destination and its visitors.”
Shannon Osman, head of retail at Footasylum, said: “We are excited to announce the forthcoming opening of our newly expanded and enhanced Footasylum store at Merry Hill. With a strong and loyal customer base in the West Midlands, we are delighted to provide them with an elevated in-store shopping experience that reflects our commitment to excellence.”
