Contractor secures multimillion-pound deal with gas giant

United Living Group’s subsidiary, United Living Infrastructure Services (ULIS), has won a multi-million-pound contract with Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network.

ULIS will work with Cadent to relocate a 600m section of the Alrewas to Ebstree high-pressure gas pipeline to clear the way for the new M54 to M6 link road in the West Midlands.

Currently, there is no direct motorway link between the M54 and M6 north, causing both long-distance and local traffic to use local roads.

Campbell Crawford, managing director, of United Living Infrastructure Services, said: “We are delighted to be working with Cadent to ensure the successful diversion of this gas pipeline, which will facilitate the improved motorway link between the M54 and the M6 in the West Midlands.

“Our focus will be on delivering a solution that ensures long-term protection, lower environmental and carbon impacts, and minimal disruption to local landscapes and traffic which will benefit customers and the local community.”

Neil Bethell, director of Capital Delivery, Cadent, said: “This high-pressure pipeline diversion is essential to enable the future construction of this significant infrastructure scheme for one of our key customers, National Highways.

“As well as facilitating the proposed National Highways works, this diversion will ensure the continued safe operation of Cadent’s gas network both during the construction of the scheme and into the future. We are pleased to be working with United Living and drawing upon their extensive experience in the pipeline industry to deliver this important scheme for our customers.”
