Quintet of contract wins for Seddon

THE Birmingham office of North West firm Seddon Construction has won five contracts in the region totalling more than £6m.
The largest of the quintet is a £4.25m scheme to build a warehouse for iron castings manufacturer Castings in Walsall.
The 44,885 sq ft new steel-framed facility will be built on waste land next to the existing Castings factory and head office in Lichfield Road.
Bolton-based Seddon Construction, part of the Seddon Group of companies headquartered in Cheshire, will also create new car parking and an access road.
The new building is due to be completed early next year and forms part of a major expansion by Castings.
Seddon has also been appointed by Cadbury Sixth Form College in Kings Norton, Birmingham, to carry out a £1m new-build and refurbishment contract.
The scheme includes the construction of a new classroom block adjoining the college’s main building and the remodelling, refurbishment and reroofing of an existing classroom block.
The other new contracts comprise a £300,000 scheme for Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust to build a first-floor extension at Heartlands Hospital, Bordesley Green East, Birmingham.
It has also been selected by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council to alter the authority’s existing council offices to create break-out areas for staff over four floors.
Finally, the firm will carry out a £485,000 conversion project at London House, in the Madeley area of Telford, for affordable and supported housing provider Home Group to create six self-contained flats for disabled people.
