City regen contract win for JS Wright

BIRMINGHAM-based building services provider JS Wright has won a £1m contract to help regenerate a large housing estate in South West London.

The Aston company, which opened its first London office this year, has been signed up to provide all the mechanical and electrical services for Phase 1b of the Durand Close project in Carshalton, near Sutton.

The council estate is undergoing a £56m revamp including the demolition of its 295 homes.

East Sussex-based Rydon Construction has commissioned JS Wright to equip the latest phase of 53 homes and a new community centre including installing, testing and commissioning above-ground drainage, domestic hot and cold water services.

It will also install mains and sub-mains distribution network, communal lighting, telecommunications and a TV system and provide video access controls, fire and smoke detection equipment and general power supplies. Completion of this phase is scheduled for March 2012.

Managing director Marcus Aniol said: “We are thrilled to be at the heart of such a vital project to improve the quality of life of hundreds of people in the South East.”
