Shropshire restaurant loses Michelin star

BIRMINGHAM’s trio of Michelin-starred restaurants retained their status in the latest eateries guide while Ludlow outlet La Becasse lost its star.
In the Michelin Restaurant Guide 2012, city centre restaurant Purnell’s, Turners in Harborne and Simpsons in Edgbaston all retained their one-star status.
South Shropshire restaurant La Becasse lost its single star, which it won four years ago, and Stratford’s Malbec Petit Bistro also missed out on keeping its ‘Bib Gourmands’, given to restaurants which have cheaper menus but still offer good food.
The Butchers Arms in the Worcestershire village of Eldersfield was a new entry into the guide with a one-star rating.
Herefordshire’s Stage Inn, Mr Underhill’s in Ludlow and Mallory Court in Leamington all kept their single stars.
