Bloxwich pub set to be new £1m Co-op

A DISUSED Black Country pub is to be converted into a new convenience store as part of a £1m investment.
Community retailer The Midcounties Co-operative is to invest the money in the conversion of the former Knave of Hearts pub in Bloxwich. The scheme will create 20 new jobs.
Work will start shortly on the Lichfield Road site and the scheme will see the former pub, which closed last autumn, extended to create 2,500 sq ft of retail space.
The store is due to open this summer and will provide a range of fresh and convenience goods seven days a week.
Andy Cresswell, group general manager for retail, said: “This is a sizeable investment in Bloxwich and will create jobs and provide a quality, value for money service to local people.
“As a co-operative business we are committed to serving local communities and we are always looking at how we can improve what we offer.”
The retailer, which is based in Walsall, already has a strong presence in the area with similar stores in Turnberry Road and Sneyd Hall Road, both Bloxwich, and one at High Street, Pelsall.
